Introduction
The transit home is located at Suryodaya Municipality in Pashupatinagar, Ward No.2 in the Ilam district. The eastern hilly district of Ilam is a place of exquisite beauty. Ilam borders with Darjeeling district of the state of West Bengal, India in the North. This area is a particularly high-risk area as India and Nepal share an open border and there are different smaller routes leading to India.
The open border and regular flow of people from both sides have created a conducive environment for trafficking. There are no documentation procedures and system of proper identification for nationals on both sides of the border; this has made it easy for pimps to traffic the girls. Border towns on both sides are busy markets, catering to residents from both countries.
